Sept. 2023 - Apr. 2024
ECO₂ confronts the challenge of rising sea levels and coastal erosion—byproducts of climate change driven by carbon emissions—with a speculative yet pragmatic approach. It imagines a future where carbon sequestration technology not only mitigates these emissions but transforms them into physical "bricks." These bricks are then utilized to reinforce and rebuild disappearing islands, setting the stage for new ecosystems to flourish.
Emphasizing a balance between urgency and innovation, the project explores this scenario as a form of constructive imagination rather than a definitive solution. It delves into the potential of "carbon-synthesis" devices, inspired by biomimicry, to foster a symbiotic relationship between technological advancement and natural adaptation. This vision advocates for a reimagined interaction with our planet, highlighting both the disturbing realities of climate change and the promising possibilities of human ingenuity.

The short film tells the story of a future environmental tech company and its efforts to mitigate the effects of human activity on global warming. It focuses on saving disappearing islands and setting the stage for a new ecosystem to flourish.
A generative landscape created through code, this automated process runs for 20 minutes in real time. It artistically demonstrates the transformation of carbon in the air into solid concrete material, symbolically rebuilding disappearing islands.
My project was showcased at the ArtCenter 2024 Spring Grad Show, where I used a projector to highlight the striking graphics of my short film.
The experience was truly unforgettable. I spent those two days engaging in meaningful discussions. I was moved by the people who showed genuine interest in my work and its message about climate change.
It was rewarding to witness how my project spark thoughtful reflections about the future of our planet.
It affirmed my belief in the power of design to inspire change and my passion as a designer.
